Restaurant and QSR branding
TAVERN is an independent restaurant branding agency based in New York. We help restaurant chains, quick service restaurants, fast casual businesses and hospitality brands connect strategy, visual identity and the guest experience.
Our work spans positioning, naming, verbal identity, restaurant interiors, menu boards, uniforms, packaging, campaigns and brand systems. Through our Modern Heritage approach, we uncover what makes a restaurant distinctive and build on it for the next generation of guests.
A restaurant brand lives in every detail
People experience a restaurant through its food, its space, its people and its rituals. The signage outside, the menu at the counter and the way a server welcomes a regular all contribute to the same impression.
TAVERN develops connected systems across those touchpoints. For an established chain, that means identifying the elements customers already recognize and translating them into a coherent identity that can be applied across locations. For a new concept, it means building a distinctive foundation from the start.
Sizzler: putting the sizzle back in Sizzler
As Sizzler's agency of record, TAVERN developed a comprehensive rebrand for Sizzler Family Steak House. We returned to the brand's archives to recover the visual character and sense of joy that made it part of West Coast family life.
The work refreshed the logo, typography, color palette and tone of voice. It revived Ribby Ribeye and introduced a cast of Taste Buddies inspired by familiar menu favorites. The identity extended into restaurant interiors, menu boards, staff uniforms and the guest experience as remodeled restaurants rolled out.
The engagement also included brand strategy, sonic branding, product innovation and naming. Each element helped connect the restaurant's heritage with a contemporary experience for longtime fans and new diners.
The published case study reports +47% sales in rebranded and remodeled stores and +73% social engagement following the rebrand. These are results reported by TAVERN for the broader rebrand and remodel program.

Modern Heritage for restaurant brands
An established restaurant has accumulated assets that a new competitor cannot instantly reproduce: a recognizable sign, a beloved character, a familiar menu name, a ritual or a place in family memories.
We research those assets, determine which remain valuable and redesign how they work together. Sizzler demonstrates this approach across its identity and restaurant experience. The objective is lasting recognition, with enough flexibility to support new locations, formats and audiences.
